Ipswich Town is poised to finalize the signing of Chelsea winger Omari Hutchinson in a record-breaking deal for the club, pending a medical examination.
The 20-year-old is set to complete a transfer valued at an initial £20 million, with an additional £2.5 million potentially payable based on performance-related incentives.
Hutchinson emerged as Ipswich’s top transfer target following an impressive loan spell in the Championship last season, where he contributed 10 goals and six assists.
Under the management of Kieran McKenna, Ipswich Town achieved an unexpected automatic promotion by finishing second in the league.
The transaction is anticipated to be concluded within the week, aiding Chelsea in their efforts to meet the financial regulations of the Premier League.
Formerly an England youth international up to the under-19 level, Hutchinson has made two appearances for Chelsea since joining from Arsenal in 2022.
