Novak Djokovic secured his place in the Wimbledon final with a decisive win over Lorenzo Musetti, setting up a rematch against reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz.
Djokovic’s 6-4, 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 victory on Centre Court moves him closer to an eighth Wimbledon men’s singles title, which would tie the current record.
The 37-year-old Djokovic faced minimal resistance from Musetti, who at 22, struggled to find opportunities. Musetti’s best chance came in the final set, but a missed forehand shot ended his hopes. Djokovic then closed out the match without giving Musetti another opportunity, advancing to his 37th Grand Slam final and 10th at Wimbledon.
After the match, Djokovic mimicked playing a violin, a gesture aimed at his six-year-old daughter, Tara. Some fans misinterpreted the celebration and responded with boos, believing it was disrespectful.
Alcaraz and Djokovic last faced each other in the previous year’s final, where Alcaraz emerged victorious in a five-set match that lasted four hours and 42 minutes. The two will meet again on Sunday, promising another significant match in Wimbledon history.
