Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark made WNBA history on Wednesday by setting a new record for the most three-pointers made by a rookie in a single season. This milestone was achieved during the first quarter of the Fever’s game against the Connecticut Sun at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Clark’s record-breaking shot was her 86th three-pointer of the season, surpassing the previous record of 85 held by Rhyne Howard of the Atlanta Dream, who set the mark in 2022.
With nine games remaining in the regular season, Clark has the opportunity to further increase her three-point total. Currently, she averages 2.8 made three-pointers per game on 8.5 attempts. If she maintains this pace, she could potentially make around 25 additional three-pointers by the end of the season.
The current WNBA single-season record for made three-pointers is 128, set by Sabrina Ionescu last year. To surpass this record, Clark would need to make 42 more three-pointers, a challenging feat given her current averages.
Clark’s record-setting achievement highlights her remarkable rookie season, further establishing her impact in the league.
