Brentford manager Thomas Frank has cast doubt on Scotland defender Aaron Hickey’s chances of returning to full fitness in time for Euro 2024, citing a lingering injury setback.
The 21-year-old full-back has been sidelined since October following a hamstring injury sustained during a match against Chelsea.
Having accrued 14 international caps, Hickey played a pivotal role in Scotland’s qualifying campaign. However, with the Euro 2024 finals fast approaching, his availability for the tournament appears uncertain. Scotland is slated to face Germany in their opening fixture on June 14, followed by matches against Switzerland and Hungary.
Addressing Hickey’s potential return to club action before the season’s conclusion, Frank confirmed, “No, we’re not going to see him this season.”
While acknowledging that he isn’t the decision-maker for Scotland, Frank expressed skepticism about Hickey’s readiness, stating, “I don’t think it is positive.”
