The head of an organization advocating for female sports enthusiasts has voiced grievances over what she describes as “abusive” security searches experienced by her and fellow Paris Saint-Germain fans at Barcelona’s stadium during a recent Champions League match.
Anoush Morel, leading Her Game Too France, recounted to L’Equipe and RMC Sport that she underwent invasive searches by a female security officer, who allegedly touched her breasts, buttocks, and groin during a pat-down at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium on Tuesday night. Multiple other women reportedly encountered similar aggressive screenings.
Despite Paris Saint-Germain securing a 4-1 victory, Morel’s post-match experience has sparked uproar. In an official statement released Thursday, her organization condemned such practices and urged “relevant authorities” to intervene.
“The intrusive and humiliating searches endured by spectators, particularly women, are utterly unacceptable and constitute a form of sexual aggression,” the statement asserted.
The group highlighted a pattern of similar complaints across European stadiums, predominantly affecting visiting fans. It called upon teams, event organizers, and venue management to review and rectify their security protocols to prevent any form of discriminatory treatment against supporters.
Moreover, the organization has directed its concerns to UEFA, seeking clarification on whether visiting fans face disproportionately rigorous screening measures.
As of Thursday evening, UEFA had not responded to requests for comment on the matter.
