Utah Hockey Club has re-signed center Barrett Hayton to a two-year contract worth $5.3 million, averaging $2.65 million annually, the team announced Monday. Hayton, a restricted free agent, had a challenging season marked by injuries, tallying three goals and seven assists in 33 games. In contrast, he excelled in the 2022-23 season with 19 goals and 24 assists in 82 games.
“We are very pleased to sign Barrett to an extension,” said Utah GM Bill Armstrong. “Barrett is a reliable two-way center, strong in faceoffs, and complements our skilled forwards. We look forward to his contribution.”
Hayton, drafted fifth overall by the Arizona Coyotes in 2018, is expected to contend for a top-six center role in Utah’s upcoming season.
