The Florida Panthers have signed defenseman Adam Boqvist to a one-year contract, confirmed on Tuesday. While the financial details were not officially disclosed, Cap Friendly reports the deal is valued at $775,000.
Boqvist, formerly with the Columbus Blue Jackets, was bought out earlier in the offseason after clearing waivers. Originally drafted eighth overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2018, he joined Columbus in 2021. Despite injury setbacks, Boqvist managed 10 points in 35 games last season.
Following departures like Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Brandon Montour, who left the Panthers’ Cup-winning defensive roster this summer, Boqvist joins as an affordable option for defensive depth.
Additionally, the Panthers signed Boqvist’s older brother, Jesper, during this offseason.
