The Nashville Predators and goaltender Juuse Saros have reached an agreement on an eight-year contract extension with an average annual value of $7.74 million, according to TSN’s Chris Johnston.
Saros, who has one season left on his current deal with a $5-million cap hit, is eligible to sign the new contract on Monday.
Despite experiencing a slight dip in performance by his high standards last season, the 29-year-old still secured 35 wins, tying for the sixth most in the NHL, and posted a .906 save percentage.
The Predators finished the season strong, going 21-7-3 after the All-Star break. Saros played a pivotal role in this success, recording a 16-5-3 record and a .912 save percentage during this period.
In the playoffs, Saros achieved a .900 save percentage and a 2.02 goals-against average before Nashville was eliminated by the Vancouver Canucks in the first round.
Over the last three seasons, Saros has made over 60 starts each year, making him the league’s busiest goalie during that time. He has consistently performed at a high level, finishing within the top six in Vezina Trophy voting in the past four campaigns and being named a finalist for the award in 2022.
Selected by the Predators in the fourth round of the 2013 NHL Draft, Saros boasts a career .917 save percentage and a 182-119-32 record.
