San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk was carted off to the locker room during Sunday’s 28-18 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs after sustaining a hit to his right knee late in the second quarter. He was ruled out for the remainder of the game early in the third quarter. Aiyuk was initially down on the field but managed to walk to the blue medical tent before being taken to the locker room.
Postgame, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan expressed concern that Aiyuk may have injured his ACL, as reported by Lindsey Thiry of ESPN. The 26-year-old receiver, who signed a four-year, $120 million extension this past offseason, had recorded two receptions for 23 yards before his exit.

The 49ers completed Week 7 without their top three receivers. In addition to Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel left the game in the first half due to an illness, having been active at the start but officially ruled out in the third quarter. Jauan Jennings was also inactive due to a hip injury, but Shanahan hopes to have Jennings back for the upcoming week, according to Matt Barrows of The Athletic.
Ricky Pearsall made his NFL debut during Sunday’s game after missing the first six games of the season due to injuries sustained during an attempted robbery on August 31. Pearsall caught three passes for 21 yards. Tight end George Kittle contributed significantly to the team’s offense, finishing the game with six receptions for 92 yards.
The 49ers are set to face the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8 before entering their bye week.
