New York Jets fans will soon see wide receiver Davante Adams in action. Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich confirmed on Wednesday that Adams is expected to play Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Adams was traded to the Jets on Tuesday following a request to leave the Las Vegas Raiders. The wide receiver had been sidelined for the last three games due to a hamstring injury. However, Ulbrich stated that Adams will participate fully in Wednesday’s walk-through, per Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic.
Aaron Rodgers, who is still recovering from an ankle sprain, will not be at the walk-through but is expected to play on Sunday, according to ESPN’s Rich Cimini.
The Jets acquired Adams in a trade involving a conditional third-round pick and a late-round pick swap. This move reunites Adams with his former Green Bay Packers quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. Adams played a key role in helping Rodgers secure three of his four NFL MVP titles, including in the wideout’s rookie season in 2014. Adams led the NFL with 18 touchdown receptions in 2020 and has made five Pro Bowl appearances.
During his brief stint with Las Vegas, Adams played three games this season, recording 18 receptions for 209 yards and one touchdown. He now joins Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard, with Lazard leading the Jets in 2024 with five touchdown catches.
The Jets began the season 2-1 but have since lost three consecutive games.
