Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon is expected to make his return this Sunday against the New England Patriots, according to KPRC 2 Houston’s Aaron Wilson. The 28-year-old missed the last three games due to an ankle injury he sustained in Week 2 against the Chicago Bears.
Mixon participated in practice over the past two days and remains listed as questionable for the upcoming matchup. “I felt good,” Mixon commented after Thursday’s practice. “I’m going to do what I’ve got to do to show I’m the best on the field. It’s as simple as that.”
In Mixon’s absence, Cam Akers and Dare Ogunbowale have been the primary running backs for the Texans. The team accumulated 233 rushing yards across the last three games.
Before his injury, Mixon had an impressive start to the season, recording 178 total yards and scoring three touchdowns on 33 touches during the Texans’ Week 1 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.
