The NFL plans to award the 2028 Super Bowl to Atlanta, specifically at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the home of the Falcons, according to Ben Fischer of the Sports Business Journal.
This decision is anticipated to be formalized next month when NFL owners convene to vote.
Mercedes-Benz Stadium will be hosting its second Super Bowl, following the 2019 matchup in which the New England Patriots defeated the Los Angeles Rams.
Opened in 2017, the stadium is also set to host the 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship and several matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Additionally, it regularly serves as the venue for the SEC Championship Game.
Atlanta has previously hosted the Super Bowl in 1994 and 2000 at the Georgia Dome, the Falcons’ former home.
The NFL has now finalized the venues for the upcoming four Super Bowls.
