Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen addressed his earlier comments about his teammates, clarifying that they were not directed at ex-teammate Stefon Diggs. “I know there’s a lot of people talking out there,” Allen said Wednesday, as reported by Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN. “Again, I’m not trying to tear down anybody.”
After the Bills’ commanding victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday Night Football, Allen remarked on the importance of teammates who prioritize team success over individual statistics. This comment led some fans and analysts to interpret it as a critique of Diggs. “Again, I love 14 (Diggs). I still do,” Allen stated. “But everyone wants to keep making this thing a thing. We’re so focused on what’s going on inside of our building, and that’s the only thing we’re caring about right now.”
Diggs, who spent four seasons with the Bills, was traded to the Houston Texans this offseason. Meanwhile, the Bills’ offense has excelled this season, currently ranking first in EPA/play and success rate, according to Ben Baldwin’s database. Allen has effectively utilized a diverse group of receivers, with six different players catching touchdowns this season.
“We’re building each other up right now, and that’s all we’re trying to do and trying to stay together as a team,” Allen added. “We’re really caring about each other, and everybody in this building’s got that feeling.”
Allen is leading the NFL with a passer rating of 133.7 and a quarterback rating of 92.6, with no interceptions thrown through three games. The undefeated Bills, now 3-0, are set to face the 1-2 Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football in Week 4.
