San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams due to a hamstring injury, head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed on Friday. The report was first shared by NFL Network’s Clayton Holloway.
Kittle’s injury adds to the 49ers’ growing list of offensive setbacks. Earlier this week, Shanahan announced that wide receiver Deebo Samuel would be sidelined for a few weeks due to a calf sprain, and running back Christian McCaffrey is currently on injured reserve with Achilles tendinitis.
In addition to the offensive challenges, the 49ers are dealing with injuries on defense. Pass-rusher Nick Bosa is questionable with a rib injury, and cornerback Charvarius Ward is also questionable, nursing both hamstring and knee issues.
Kittle was added to the injury report on Thursday after missing practice.
Behind Kittle on the depth chart is veteran tight end Eric Saubert. Saubert, 30, has recorded two receptions for 26 yards so far this season and has 38 career catches since entering the league in 2017.
