Trent Williams, the veteran left tackle, has agreed to a restructured three-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers, valued at $82.66 million, according to an announcement made by his agency, Elite Loyalty Sports, on Tuesday. This deal concludes Williams’ holdout, which had kept him away from team activities and facilities while he sought a new contract.
Under the terms of the new agreement, Williams will receive $48 million fully guaranteed and a $25.69-million signing bonus.
Addressing his decision, Williams stated, “It’s a volatile league. A guy my stature and my age, I thought security was important, and that was all,” as reported by NFL.com’s Kevin Patra.
Williams, 36, has been a crucial part of the 49ers’ offensive line since joining the team before the 2020 season. During his time with San Francisco, he has earned three consecutive first-team All-Pro selections and extended his Pro Bowl streak to four straight seasons with the 49ers, bringing his career total to 11.
Williams has appeared in 58 games for San Francisco, playing nearly every offensive snap. Notably, he did not allow a single sack during the last season on 438 pass-blocking snaps and achieved an elite run-blocking grade of 90.1, according to Pro Football Focus (PFF).
Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 320 pounds, Williams has been recognized as one of the NFL’s most consistently dominant offensive linemen since 2012. His accolades also include a second-team All-Pro selection in 2015 during his tenure with Washington.
