Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is not focused on seeking revenge as he prepares for the season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday.
“Any game I play in, I feel like it’s a revenge game,” Jackson said. “So I’m not going to just look at this game as a revenge game. Anybody we’ve played, no matter if we beat them or lost to them (in) previous years, I just want to win.”
The Ravens had their Super Bowl LVIII aspirations thwarted by the Chiefs in last year’s AFC Championship Game. Despite finishing the season with a 13-4 record and leading the league in rushing, Baltimore was limited to just 81 rushing yards on 16 carries in a 17-10 defeat.
“I’m (going to) approach this like any other game,” Jackson said. “It’s the start of the season. We’ve got to make a great impression for the first game of the season.”
Jackson will be entering his second year with offensive coordinator Todd Monken, coming off a season where he passed for a career-high 3,678 yards. He begins the 2024 season with a fully healthy Mark Andrews and Rashod Bateman, and the addition of four-time Pro Bowl tailback Derrick Henry.
Regardless of the opponent, Jackson is keen to start the Ravens’ Super Bowl quest.
“I’m ready to go,” he said. “I’ve been going against my guys for weeks. It’s time to go against someone else.”**Lamar Jackson Focused on Winning, Not Revenge Against Chiefs**
