The Tennessee Titans are sending quarterback Malik Willis to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for a 2025 seventh-round draft pick, according to sources from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Willis, who joined the Titans as a third-round pick in 2022, has struggled to make a significant impact during his time in the NFL. Over 11 games, including three starts, he has yet to throw a touchdown and has recorded three interceptions.
In his three starts, which occurred during his rookie season while filling in for an injured Ryan Tannehill, Willis completed just 51% of his passes. Despite these challenges, the 25-year-old demonstrated his mobility, rushing for 123 yards and scoring one touchdown in 2022.
In Green Bay, Willis is expected to compete for the backup quarterback role behind Jordan Love. The Packers’ current quarterback depth chart includes Sean Clifford and rookie Michael Pratt, both of whom have limited NFL experience. However, reports from Sports Illustrated’s Bill Huber suggest that Clifford is likely to be released.
The Titans have committed to second-year quarterback Will Levis as their starting quarterback for the upcoming season, with Mason Rudolph, who signed a one-year deal in the offseason, expected to serve as the backup.
The Titans and Packers are scheduled to face off in Week 3.
