New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers is considered day-to-day due to a mild ankle sprain sustained at the end of practice on Sunday, sources informed Jordan Raanan of ESPN.
Giants head coach Brian Daboll reported that Nabers is currently sore but remains optimistic. “We think he’s OK,” Daboll said. ” … I don’t think it’s a fracture.”
Nabers left the field limping and did not return to practice. After the incident, he was observed moving “very slowly” on the sideline, according to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News.
During training camp this summer, Nabers has made a positive impression on coaches and teammates, as noted by Raanan. He expressed excitement about working with quarterback Daniel Jones this season, stating, “I just put a lot of confidence in him.” He further added, “Just put the ball around me, and I’m gonna make a spectacular catch.”
Drafted sixth overall this year, Nabers is projected to be the Giants’ top pass-catcher. The 21-year-old had an impressive season at LSU in 2023, recording 89 catches for 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns.
