Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill has expressed confidence in his speed, claiming he would defeat 100m gold medalist Noah Lyles in a race. During an appearance on the “Up & Adams show” with Kay Adams, Hill stated, “I would beat Noah Lyles” when asked about a potential race with the Olympic champion once he returns home.
Hill acknowledged, “I wouldn’t beat him by a lot, but I would beat Noah Lyles. And guess what? When I beat him, I’m gonna put on the COVID mask and let him know I mean business.”
Lyles secured the gold medal in the 100m race with a time of 9.79 seconds, narrowly edging out Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson. He later competed in the 200m event after testing positive for COVID-19 and was seen leaving the venue in a wheelchair following his bronze-medal finish.
The 27-year-old sprinter stirred controversy in August 2023 by critiquing the NBA, suggesting that players should not be celebrated as global champions. “I have to watch the NBA Finals and they have ‘World Champion’ on their head. World Champion of what? The United States?” Lyles remarked.
In response to Lyles’ comments, Hill stated, “Noah Lyles can’t say nothing after what just happened to him. Then he want to come out and pretend like he sick … That’s like horseradish.” He added, “So for him to do that and say that we’re not world champions of our sport … Just speak on what you know about, and that’s track.”
According to Callie Lawson-Freeman of Yahoo Sports, Hill’s personal best time in the 100m is 10.19 seconds.
