Nick Harris is making his return to Cleveland. The veteran center, who began his NFL career with the Browns, has been traded back to Cleveland from the Seattle Seahawks. In this deal, the Browns sent a sixth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft to the Seahawks and, in addition to Harris, received a seventh-round pick in 2026.
Harris was a fifth-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft and started four games during his first stint with the Browns, participating in a total of 40 regular season games. His 2022 season was sidelined due to a knee injury sustained during the preseason. Last year, he made two starts before signing with Seattle in March.
The trade raises the question: who won this transaction?
Browns: A
Cleveland made a strategic move by acquiring Harris, especially after Luke Wypler suffered an ankle injury during the team’s preseason opener against the Green Bay Packers. Harris brings valuable experience and familiarity with the team’s system, which should enable him to adjust quickly as he reintegrates with the roster.
Seahawks: B+
Seattle deserves recognition for securing a return for Harris rather than simply releasing him. Harris became a surplus asset after the Seahawks signed veteran center Connor Williams. By trading Harris, Seattle has shown confidence in Williams, believing that his recent injury issues are behind him. Additionally, the team has backup Olu Oluwatimi available should Williams encounter any injury setbacks.
