The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have secured offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs with a five-year contract extension, the team announced on Thursday.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the extension is valued at $140.63 million, including $88.24 million in guaranteed money. This deal positions Wirfs as the highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history, with an average annual value of $28.1 million, slightly surpassing the $28 million average annual value of the contract Detroit Lions offensive tackle Penei Sewell signed earlier this offseason.
Drafted 13th overall in 2020, the 25-year-old Wirfs has consistently excelled as a blocker. His performance remained strong after transitioning from right to left tackle in 2023. Wirfs has earned Pro Bowl honors for three consecutive years, alongside first-team and second-team All-Pro selections.
Throughout his career, Wirfs has demonstrated exceptional durability, playing 100% of the offensive snaps in all 63 of his career games, missing only four contests.
This extension follows other significant deals for the Buccaneers this offseason, including contracts for quarterback Baker Mayfield, safety Antoine Winfield, and wide receiver Mike Evans.
