New Los Angeles Rams guard Jonah Jackson is expected to be sidelined for approximately six weeks due to a bruised scapula, according to a report by NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. Jackson was spotted on the sidelines during training camp with his left arm in a sling.
The 27-year-old Jackson was the Rams’ most significant signing during this year’s free agency, securing a three-year contract worth $51 million. Previously, he spent his first four NFL seasons with the Detroit Lions and has been recognized as a reliable interior lineman. However, injuries have hindered him from completing a full season in each of the last two years.
This latest injury raises concerns about Jackson’s availability for the Rams’ season opener against the Lions, set for September 8. If Jackson remains unavailable, Zach Thomas is expected to start at left guard, with the team also having seventh-round rookie left guard KT Leveston on the roster.
In 2023, Steve Avila played left guard for the Rams but was shifted to center following Jackson’s signing. Additionally, the Rams have been without left tackle Alaric Jackson, who is currently managing an ankle injury during camp.
