New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers addressed an exchange at training camp where he appeared to be arguing with receiver Garrett Wilson. Rodgers clarified the incident, emphasizing the difference between appearance and reality.
“There’s often appearance versus reality in life and on the football field. What it appears to be might not always be what the reality actually is. … We’re just passionately talking about the details,” Rodgers told reporters Wednesday.

The interaction between Rodgers and Wilson was observed on the field Tuesday, echoing a similar scene from a few days prior. Rodgers dismissed any notions of discord, highlighting their strong relationship. “(Wilson) and I have a great relationship,” Rodgers said. ” … I love those conversations. It’s about the details, it’s about winning, it’s about seeing what he sees. He’s gotta get on my page, but I gotta get on his page, too.”

Wilson, who has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first two NFL seasons, has been a key player for the Jets. Since being drafted 10th overall in 2022, he has accumulated 2,145 yards and seven touchdowns in 34 career games, contributing 29% of New York’s receiving yardage during that period.
Wilson echoed Rodgers’ sentiments, explaining that their discussions are part of their commitment to improving team performance. “We’re both passionate guys β¦ it’s just a conversation. We’re both like-minded. We’re trying to figure out how to attack the defense,” Wilson said, per Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic. He added, “We’re getting better. We’re gaining an understanding of each other. It’s truly enlightening for me every time we have convos like that.”
Rodgers, 40, is aiming to bring stability to the Jets’ quarterback situation after tearing his Achilles four snaps into his Jets tenure last season. The Jets have not had a 3,000-yard passer since Sam Darnold in 2019.
