The New England Patriots and defensive back Jabrill Peppers are finalizing a three-year extension valued up to $30 million, according to Field Yates of ESPN.
The contract has a base value of $24 million, Yates reports.
Peppers joined the Patriots in 2021 on a one-year deal. Following a full season, he signed a two-year contract with the team.
Last season, the 28-year-old Peppers performed well, starting 15 games, recording two interceptions, and defending eight passes. He allowed a career-low 72.7 passer rating when targeted and gave up only 7.5 yards per reception, as noted by Pro Football Reference.
Peppers played a key role in New England’s defensive success, contributing to the team’s eighth-place finish in EPA/play allowed. The Patriots’ defense ranked first from Week 10 onward.
This offseason, the Patriots have focused on retaining their players, with multi-year extensions also given to Christian Barmore, Rhamondre Stevenson, Kyle Dugger, Mike Onwenu, Hunter Henry, and Kendrick Bourne.
Peppers was drafted in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. In 93 career games, he has recorded six interceptions and defended 33 passes.
