The Minnesota Vikings have added another move to their busy offseason by finalizing a four-year contract extension with left tackle Christian Darrisaw on Tuesday, just before the start of training camp.
Darrisaw, who was the Vikings’ first-round pick in 2021 (No. 23 overall), will receive up to $113 million, with $77 million guaranteed, according to a source cited by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The deal includes $43.7 million guaranteed at signing.
At 25 years old, Darrisaw, who celebrated his birthday last month, had two years remaining on his rookie contract. With this new agreement, he is now under contract through the 2029 season.
The extension was completed on the day the Vikings’ veterans reported to training camp, one day before their first practice. This follows the team’s recent signing of receiver Justin Jefferson to a four-year, $140 million contract extension.
Since the end of the previous season, the Vikings have seen quarterback Kirk Cousins depart, drafted rookie J.J. McCarthy, signed 14 unrestricted free agents—including veteran quarterback Sam Darnold—and re-signed eight of their own players.
Darrisaw, who began as a starter early in his rookie season, has consistently held his position despite a few minor injuries. He missed five games in 2021, three in 2022, and two in 2023.
While he has yet to be selected for a Pro Bowl or All-Pro team, coach Kevin O’Connell has commended him as a key player for the franchise, with expectations for him to gain broader recognition as one of the top left tackles in the NFL.
