Two flight attendants have filed a lawsuit against former Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Brandon McManus, alleging sexual assault during an overseas flight to London last year, according to court documents obtained by ESPN.
Identified as Jane Doe I and Jane Doe II, the women accuse McManus of inappropriate physical contact during the team’s charter flight on September 28, 2023. The lawsuit claims McManus rubbed himself against them and made unwanted advances.
The plaintiffs are seeking in excess of $1 million in damages and demand a jury trial.
McManus’ attorney, Brett R. Gallaway, stated, “These are absolutely fictitious and demonstrably false allegations made as part of a campaign to defame and disparage a talented and well-respected NFL player.”
The Jaguars, who did not re-sign McManus for the current season, acknowledged the lawsuit and emphasized their commitment to an organization built on integrity.
The Washington Commanders, whom McManus joined on March 14 on a one-year, $3.6 million contract, stated they were aware of the lawsuit and are investigating the matter.
According to the lawsuit, the flight quickly turned into a party atmosphere, with McManus and other players disregarding personal space and safety protocols.
The plaintiffs allege severe mental anguish and distress following the incidents and claim to have been removed from their core crew positions on Jaguars charter flights.
The lawsuit accuses the Jaguars of gross negligence for failing to properly supervise McManus and implement policies to protect staff from sexual misconduct.
McManus, who signed with the Jaguars in May 2023 after being released by the Denver Broncos, made 30 of 37 field goal attempts and all 35 extra point attempts last season.
