Sources have confirmed that the Las Vegas Raiders are finalizing a one-year contract with former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup. The deal is valued at up to $3 million, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Jeremy Fowler.
The move is noteworthy considering the Raiders’ existing depth at the wide receiver position. Their current roster boasts accomplished pass-catchers such as three-time first-team All-Pro Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers, and Tre Tucker, alongside a trio of talented tight ends: Michael Mayer, Harrison Bryant, and Brock Bowers.
Notably, the Raiders released veteran slot receiver Hunter Renfrow earlier in the offseason and did not select a wide receiver during the recent NFL Draft, except for sixth-round pick Dylan Laube from New Hampshire.
Prior to his release, Gallup, 28, was let go by the Cowboys on March 15 to create $9.5 million in salary cap space. Despite signing a five-year, $57.5 million contract with Dallas in 2022, Gallup’s production declined after suffering a torn ACL late in the 2021 season. In his tenure with the Cowboys, he recorded 266 receptions for 3,744 yards and 21 touchdowns, with his most notable season occurring in 2019, where he totaled 1,107 receiving yards.
Gallup, a third-round pick by the Cowboys in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Colorado State, brings experience and playmaking ability to the Raiders’ receiving corps.
