The Texas Rangers have placed shortstop Corey Seager on the 10-day injured list due to right hip discomfort, as announced by the team.
There has been no indication from the Rangers whether Seager’s injury will be season-ending.
“Obviously frustrating,” Seager remarked, according to Jeff Wilson of DLLS Sports. “You want to be out there with your guys. We were starting to finally play some good baseball, so it’s not the time you want to miss.”
Seager could not identify the exact onset of the hip issue but noted that “it’s been bothering me the last couple weeks.”
The 30-year-old All-Star did not participate in the game against the New York Yankees on Tuesday, following his 2-for-4 performance in the series opener on Monday.
Seager has been having a strong season for the Rangers, with a .278 batting average, .353 on-base percentage, and .512 slugging percentage. He has also recorded 30 home runs, 21 doubles, and 74 RBIs over 123 games.
In related moves, the Rangers have selected the contract of outfielder Sandro Fabian and transferred right-hander Jon Gray (right foot injury) from the 15-day IL to the 60-day IL.
