Aaron Judge, who set an American League record with his 62nd home run in 2022, was honored at Globe Life Field with a commemorative plaque. This plaque, marking his achievement, was placed at Section 31, Row 1, Seat 3.
Ahead of the New York Yankees’ three-game series against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field, the plaque was reported stolen. The area where the plaque was located now only shows the remnants of the cement that previously held it in place.
Justin Shackil of the YES Network reported that this is the second time Judge’s plaque has been stolen. Following this incident, Rangers officials have decided not to replace the plaque for a third time.
Judge’s 62 home runs in 2022 surpassed Roger Maris’s longstanding American League record of 61 home runs set in 1961. Although Judge’s accomplishment was initially commemorated at Globe Life Field, the plaque’s removal means that this recognition will no longer be displayed in the outfield seats.
