The New York Yankees are expected to place Jazz Chisholm Jr. on the injured list due to a left UCL injury, as announced by manager Aaron Boone on Tuesday.
Chisholm sustained the injury during a slide at home plate in Monday’s game against the Chicago White Sox.
Boone mentioned that the Yankees are still assessing the injury’s severity and considering whether surgery might be required, according to MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch.
“He’s bummed out because he wanted to be in the lineup today,” Boone said, according to Hoch. “He woke up today feeling like, I’m playing today. Let’s see what we have, and hopefully it’s not something that’s too long.”
Following the game, Chisholm expressed that he “wasn’t super concerned” about the injury.
Since joining the Yankees from the Miami Marlins on July 27, the 26-year-old Chisholm has performed well, posting a .316/.361/.702 slash line with seven home runs, 13 runs scored, 11 RBIs, and five stolen bases in 14 games.
