Los Angeles Angels star outfielder Mike Trout exited his first rehab game due to knee soreness, as announced by the team on Tuesday.
Trout, who has been out since early May due to a torn meniscus, played two innings for the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees before experiencing discomfort in his surgically repaired knee.
The plan was for Trout to rejoin the Angels’ lineup this week, according to ESPN’s Alden González. However, his return has been delayed.
At 32 years old, Trout has struggled with injuries in recent years. Since 2019, he has appeared in 100 or more games only once and is expected to miss this milestone again in 2024.
Before the injury, Trout posted a 138 OPS+ with 10 home runs over 29 games with the Angels.
Trout still has six years remaining on his 12-year, $426.5-million contract.
