Los Angeles Dodgers’ ace Tyler Glasnow has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to back tightness, as confirmed by manager Dave Roberts on Tuesday, according to a report by Jack Harris in the Los Angeles Times.
Glasnow experienced discomfort while playing catch on Sunday, prompting the decision to sideline him temporarily. The Dodgers are optimistic that the issue is minor, with Roberts suggesting Glasnow could potentially return shortly after the All-Star break.
In his debut season with Los Angeles, the 30-year-old pitcher has delivered impressive performances, boasting a 3.47 ERA and a stellar 0.93 WHIP. His 143 strikeouts over 109 innings across 18 starts lead the National League, contributing significantly to the Dodgers’ position atop the NL West standings. Despite earning his first All-Star Game selection, Glasnow will be unable to participate and will be replaced by Cincinnati Reds’ right-hander Hunter Greene.
The Dodgers’ pitching rotation is already without Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Walker Buehler due to ongoing injuries.
