New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso has confirmed his participation in this year’s Home Run Derby, MLB announced on Sunday.
Alonso, a two-time Home Run Derby champion, will be joined by Baltimore Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson and Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm. Additional participants will be named leading up to the event.
The slugger previously claimed the Home Run Derby title in 2019 and 2021. In last year’s competition, Alonso entered as the No. 2 seed but was defeated by Julio Rodriguez of the Seattle Mariners in the opening round.
The reigning champion, Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr., will also compete in this year’s event.
