Real Madrid secured a hard-fought home victory against Stuttgart in the UEFA Champions League, with Brazilian teenager Endrick making history as the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer in the competition.
At 18 years and 58 days, Endrick broke the previous record set by Raul, who scored at the age of 18 years and 113 days in 1995 against Ferencvaros. Endrick, who joined Real Madrid from Palmeiras this summer, had already become the youngest player to score in a La Liga debut for the club in the 21st century when he netted against Real Valladolid.
Entering the match in the 80th minute as a substitute for Jude Bellingham, Endrick secured Madrid’s victory with the final kick of the game. The match also saw Kylian Mbappe score his first Champions League goal for Real Madrid, tapping in Rodrygo’s cross 20 seconds into the second half.
Stuttgart responded in the 68th minute with an equalizer from Deniz Undav, who headed in from close range. Despite this, Madrid regained their lead in the 83rd minute with a header from Antonio Rudiger.
Bellingham, who had missed the previous four matches due to a calf injury, played for 80 minutes before being substituted. Stuttgart had chances to take the lead earlier in the match, with Enzo Millot and Angelo Stiller both missing key opportunities. Thibaut Courtois made a crucial save to deny Stiller in the first half, while Undav’s deflected shot off Dani Carvajal struck the crossbar.
Vinicius Jr came close to scoring for Real Madrid in the 58th minute, but his shot from outside the box hit the crossbar. Real Madrid will face Lille in their next Champions League match, while Stuttgart will host Sparta Prague.
