Juventus has completed the signing of Argentine winger Nicolas Gonzalez from Fiorentina in a deal potentially worth €38 million ($42.5 million). The transfer is part of Juventus’ ongoing effort to strengthen their squad under new coach Thiago Motta.
In an official statement, Juventus announced that Gonzalez has initially joined the club on a season-long loan for €8 million, with an obligation to buy for €25 million. The deal also includes an additional €5 million in bonuses, contingent upon certain sporting achievements.
Juventus stated, “Given the high probability of the above conditions being achieved… this transaction qualifies as a definitive acquisition effective from today for a total amount of 33 million euros.”
Gonzalez, 26, joins Juventus after spending three years at Fiorentina, where he was a key player in the team that finished as runners-up in the last two editions of the Europa Conference League and the 2023 Coppa Italia. Internationally, Gonzalez has made 39 appearances for Argentina, scoring five goals, and was part of the squad that won the recent Copa America and the 2021 edition.
While Juventus faces Verona on Monday, Gonzalez is expected to make his debut next weekend when the team hosts Roma.
Additionally, Juventus is reportedly close to finalizing the loan signing of Francisco Conceicao from Porto for €9 million. The club has also secured the services of Douglas Luiz and Khepren Thuram during this summer’s transfer window and is pursuing a deal for Atalanta’s midfielder Teun Koopmeiners.
