Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier is looking to leave the club this month as he seeks regular first-team football. The 33-year-old England international did not feature in Newcastle’s 1-0 victory over Southampton on Saturday, remaining an unused substitute.
Trippier, who joined Newcastle from Atletico Madrid in 2022, is currently behind Tino Livramento, a former Southampton full-back, in the right-back position hierarchy. Despite interest from Bayern Munich and Saudi Arabia, Newcastle had blocked Trippier’s departure in January.
Trippier has been linked with a move to Everton, where he could reunite with Sean Dyche, his former manager at Burnley. Dyche addressed the speculation at a news conference on Thursday, stating, “He’s one of many names that has come up here. As if by magic, his name comes up when we don’t have a right-back available.”
Everton will be without full-back Ashley Young for their upcoming match against Tottenham due to his red card in the recent defeat to Brighton.
Trippier, who has earned 54 caps for England, was a starter in England’s first six matches at Euro 2024 but was left out of the final in favor of Luke Shaw. He has two years remaining on his contract with Newcastle.
