Newcastle United has submitted a third bid to acquire Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace, with the offer reported to be around £60 million, according to sources close to BBC Sport. The structure of the bid includes £55 million upfront and an additional £5 million in potential add-ons.
Despite Newcastle’s offer, Crystal Palace values the England defender at nearly £70 million. The 24-year-old has emerged as one of the standout players during Euro 2024.
Newcastle’s previous bid for Guehi was said to be just below £50 million. Guehi currently has just under two years remaining on his contract with Palace, and the club is keen to avoid a situation where one of their most valuable assets runs down his contract and departs for free.
Since joining Crystal Palace from Chelsea in 2021, Guehi has made 111 appearances for the club, attracting attention from various top teams.
Palace Open to Zaha Return on Loan
In addition to Guehi’s situation, Crystal Palace is reportedly open to the idea of re-signing former star Wilfried Zaha on loan. Zaha, who departed the club at the end of the 2022-23 season, joined Galatasaray to pursue his ambition of playing in the Champions League.
Last season, Zaha scored 10 goals in 42 matches for the Turkish club, including a notable goal in their 3-2 victory over Manchester United during the Champions League group stage. Over two stints with Palace, the Ivory Coast international made 458 appearances and netted 90 goals, with 68 of those scored in the Premier League.
Following the recent loss of Michael Olise to Bayern Munich in July, Palace is actively seeking additional attacking options. They have already secured the signings of forwards Daichi Kamada and Ismaila Sarr, along with defender Chadi Riad.
Fulham’s £20 Million Offer for Andersen Rejected
Crystal Palace has also turned down a £20 million bid from Fulham for centre-back Joachim Andersen. The club reportedly values the 28-year-old Denmark international at around £40 million. Andersen previously spent the 2020-21 season on loan at Fulham from Lyon before making a permanent move to Palace.
Additionally, Fulham had a bid rejected last week for Aston Villa’s Brazilian defender Diego Carlos, who is 31 years old, as they seek to bolster their defense ahead of the new season.
