Bournemouth have officially signed 19-year-old defender Dean Huijsen from Juventus on a six-year contract for an initial fee of £12.8 million. The total cost could increase to £15.3 million with performance-related add-ons, payable over a five-year period.
Huijsen is the club’s fourth summer acquisition, following the signings of Alex Paulsen, Daniel Jebbison, and the permanent transfer of Enes Unal, who initially joined the club on loan from Getafe in January.
The young defender, born in the Netherlands, represented his country at various youth levels up to under-19s. After moving to Spain at the age of five, he obtained Spanish citizenship this year and made his under-21s debut in March.
Huijsen joins Bournemouth after a successful loan spell at Roma, where he made 13 appearances during the latter part of last season.
“We are delighted to bring in a player of such high calibre on a long-term deal,” said Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake. “Dean is someone that has such exciting potential and we are all excited to see where his journey with the club will go. We’re looking forward to welcoming him to Vitality Stadium and working together to help develop further all the qualities that he already possesses.”
