Manchester United has raised its bid for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.
Last month, Everton turned down a £35m offer from United for the England international.
The revised offer is reportedly around £45m, with potential additional payments contingent on meeting specified targets.
Despite this increase, BBC Sport reports that Everton’s valuation has not yet been met.
Branthwaite, who has excelled as a left-sided central defender at Goodison Park, played a key role in Everton’s avoidance of relegation last season despite two points deductions for financial breaches.
Manchester United is actively seeking to bolster its central defense and has been in talks regarding Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt, currently representing the Netherlands at Euro 2024.
Following Raphael Varane’s departure from the club, negotiations for a new one-year deal with veteran Northern Ireland center-back Jonny Evans remain unresolved.
Meanwhile, uncertainties persist over the future of Sweden international Victor Lindelof, who reported for the start of pre-season training at Carrington on Monday.
