Tottenham Hotspur has reached an agreement to extend Timo Werner’s loan tenure from RB Leipzig until the conclusion of the upcoming season.
The German forward, Timo Werner, contributed to Spurs with 14 appearances across various competitions, netting twice since his arrival on loan from the Bundesliga outfit in January.
Initially, Tottenham possessed the option to secure Werner permanently for £15 million this summer. However, the revised agreement now features a reduced option to purchase at £8.5 million.
Werner’s presence proved beneficial to Tottenham’s squad, offering depth in attacking options until a hamstring injury sidelined him for the final five Premier League fixtures of the season.
Tottenham clinched fifth place in the Premier League standings, securing a spot in the Europa League for the upcoming campaign.
With 57 appearances for the German national team, Werner has amassed 24 goals, though his last international outing dates back to a friendly loss against Belgium in March 2023.
Werner previously enjoyed a stint at Chelsea, where he scored 23 goals in 89 matches over two years, clinching major honors including the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup. Subsequently, he rejoined RB Leipzig in 2022.
