According to AS, Bayern Munich and Chelsea are currently locked in a race to secure the signature of Palmeiras’ promising winger, Estêvão Willian.
The Blues appear to have taken the lead in the pursuit of the 17-year-old talent. They are poised to present their initial offer to Palmeiras once the Premier League season concludes.
Estêvão is subject to a release clause valued at €60 million. Palmeiras is reportedly seeking a deal akin to the transfer of Endrick to Real Madrid, which involved €35 million upfront and an additional €25 million in add-ons.
Under the management of Todd Boehly, Chelsea has been proactive in securing young South American talents, having already acquired players like Kendry Paez, Andrey Santos, and Angelo. Their proposed offer for Estêvão stands at €30 million plus performance-based add-ons. Conversely, Palmeiras aims for a fixed fee of €45 million with additional variables potentially exceeding his release clause.
This potential transfer is poised to become the most expensive move from South America to Europe in history. Estêvão is anticipated to remain in Brazil until he reaches the age of 18, pending the completion of the deal, which is still in progress.
Bayern Munich is also vying for Estêvão’s services and is expected to table an offer in the coming days. Although they have initiated contact with Palmeiras, a formal offer has not yet been presented.
However, a move to Spain seems improbable at present. Real Madrid is reportedly focused on acquiring River Plate’s attacking midfielder, Franco Mastantuono. Additionally, Barcelona’s financial constraints render a potential deal unfeasible for them.
