Max Verstappen clinched victory at the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday, marking his third consecutive win at the event for Red Bull Racing.
Verstappen successfully held off Lando Norris of McLaren, who secured his fourth podium finish in the last five races.
“I think as a team, we did really well today,” Verstappen commented. “We remained calm. I think we pitted at the right time. Of course, the safety car worked out nicely for us. But even after that, we were managing the gaps quite well. I love it. That was a lot of fun. Those kinds of races, you need them once in a while.”
George Russell of Mercedes, starting from pole position, managed to finish third, narrowly ahead of his teammate Lewis Hamilton, who achieved his best result of the season with a fourth-place finish.
“Felt like a missed opportunity to be honest,” Russell expressed. “First podium of the year. We truly had a fast car this weekend.”
The race turned disappointing for Ferrari at Montreal’s Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, as both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz failed to finish.
Both Williams drivers, Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant, retired early from the race.
Verstappen’s teammate, Sergio Pérez, faced another challenging day, marking his third consecutive race without finishing. Red Bull recently extended the 34-year-old’s contract for two more years, securing his presence until the 2026 season.
