Ferrari has officially announced the signing of Jerome d’Ambrosio as their Deputy Team Principal, following his departure from his role as head of Mercedes’ young driver program.
Set to report directly to team boss Fred Vasseur, d’Ambrosio’s move mirrors that of Lewis Hamilton, transitioning from Brackley to Maranello. Additionally, d’Ambrosio will take charge as the Head of the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy.
Joining d’Ambrosio in the transition from Mercedes to Ferrari is Loic Serra, formerly the performance director at the Silver Arrows. Serra is slated to assume the role of Head of Chassis Performance Engineering for the Scuderia.
Both appointments are scheduled to commence on October 1 of this year.
Jerome d’Ambrosio, born in Belgium in 1985, boasts a successful racing career, including a GP2 victory and three wins in Formula E. He also made 20 Formula 1 Grand Prix appearances between 2011 and 2012 for Virgin Racing and Lotus, prior to joining Mercedes in 2023 as their Driver Development Director.
Serra, who will report to Ferrari’s Technical Director Enrico Cardile, brings with him a wealth of experience from Mercedes, as well as stints at Michelin and the former BMW-Sauber team. In his new role, he will oversee various aspects including Track Engineering, Aero Development, Aero Operations, and Vehicle Performance.
