Jake Paul is setting his sights on boxing at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. “I’m going to enter the 2028 Olympics for boxing in Los Angeles,” Paul announced during the “BS w/ Jake Paul” podcast.
As of now, boxing is not included in the Olympic program for 2028. However, it has been a staple of the Olympic Games since its introduction in 1912 at the Stockholm Games. International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach stated on Friday that a decision regarding boxing’s inclusion in the 2028 Olympics will need to be made next year, as reported by Reuters’ Karolos Grohmann. The IOC assumed control of boxing for the 2024 Games but is in search of a new partner for the upcoming Olympics.
The last American to secure a gold medal in boxing at the Olympics was Oscar De La Hoya during the 1992 Barcelona Games. Paul currently boasts a professional boxing record of 10 wins and 1 loss, with seven of those victories coming by way of knockout.
“I’m sick and tired of waiting for another gold for Team USA,” Paul expressed during the podcast. At 27 years old, Paul achieved a sixth-round TKO victory over Mike Perry in July, with Perry stepping in to replace Mike Tyson, who withdrew due to injury. Paul and Tyson are scheduled to face off in November at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
