Tristan Thompson, who spent the 2024 season with his original team, is set to return for another year. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the 33-year-old ex-NBA champion will sign a one-year contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Drafted fourth overall by the Cavaliers in 2011 from Texas, Thompson has completed 10 seasons with Cleveland. After playing from 2011 to 2020, he moved between teams from 2021 to 2023.
Returning in 2024, Thompson played 49 games, averaging 3.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, and an assist per game. His season included a 25-game suspension for a performance-enhancing drug violation.
A key member of Cleveland’s 2016 championship team, Thompson ranks fifth in franchise history for games played.
The Cavaliers will begin their 2025 season on October 23 against the Toronto Raptors.
