Memphis Grizzlies forward GG Jackson will be out for at least three months following surgery to repair a fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot, the team announced on Wednesday.
The 6-foot-9 forward will undergo re-evaluation in early December.
Jackson sustained the injury last week while playing basketball in Dallas.
At 19 years old, Jackson was the youngest player in the NBA last season. He was named to the All-Rookie second team after averaging 14.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 48 games.
This offseason, Jackson participated in six games at the Las Vegas Summer League for Memphis, where he averaged 22 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. He shot 44.8% from the field and 37.5% from three-point range.
Selected 45th overall in the 2023 NBA Draft, Jackson spent one year at South Carolina before joining the NBA.
Last season, the Grizzlies were significantly affected by injuries, missing the 2024 postseason. Ja Morant played only nine games due to suspension and injury, while Desmond Bane, Marcus Smart, and Brandon Clarke also missed substantial time.
The Grizzlies are set to start their 2024-25 season against the Utah Jazz on October 23.
