The Boston Celtics have signed former Brooklyn Nets wing Lonnie Walker IV to a one-year contract, as reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Walker will vie for a roster spot after securing an Exhibit 10 deal, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania. Should he be waived after training camp, he could receive a bonus if he plays for the Celtics’ G League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws.
Last season, the 25-year-old Walker averaged 9.7 points and shot 38% from beyond the arc in 58 games with the Nets.
Walker is the only external free agent acquisition by the defending champions this summer. Boston also re-signed Xavier Tillman, Luke Kornet, and Neemias Queta, and extended Jayson Tatum, Derrick White, and Sam Hauser.
Walker began his career with the San Antonio Spurs, who selected him 18th overall in the 2018 NBA Draft. He spent the 2022-23 season with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he averaged 14.7 points per game as a starter before dealing with knee tendinitis.
