The New York Knicks and head coach Tom Thibodeau have agreed on a three-year extension through the 2027-28 season, as reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Thibodeau, a two-time NBA Coach of the Year, has guided the Knicks to the Eastern Conference semifinals in each of the past two seasons since joining the team before the shortened 2020-21 campaign.
This extension is part of a series of significant moves for the Knicks this summer. The team has signed All-Star guard Jalen Brunson to a four-year, $156.5-million extension and re-signed forward OG Anunoby to a five-year, $212.5-million deal.
Additionally, New York acquired Mikal Bridges in a three-team trade with the Brooklyn Nets and Houston Rockets, sending Bojan Bogdanovic, guard Shake Milton, and several future first-round picks in return.
Thibodeau’s current position with the Knicks is his third permanent head coaching role in the NBA, following his tenures with the Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves.
