The NBA has officially closed its investigation into Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey concerning an alleged relationship with a female minor, as reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
This development follows the Newport Beach Police Department’s decision four months earlier to end its own investigation into Giddey. The police department stated that it was “unable to corroborate any criminal activity” related to the online allegations of an inappropriate relationship with an underage girl.
The allegations initially surfaced on social media in November, prompting both the NBA and the Newport Beach PD to initiate separate investigations into the matter.
Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault addressed the situation in November, describing it as a “personal matter.”
Reflecting on the season, the 21-year-old Giddey acknowledged experiencing some “dark days” during his season-ending availability, as noted by reporter Rylan Stiles.
Giddey has recently completed his third season with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
