Bronny James, selected as the No. 55 overall pick by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2024 NBA Draft, has made headlines with the auction of his NBA Summer League debut jersey. Despite not being the top pick, James drew significant attention during the Summer League in Las Vegas.
The game-worn jersey sold for $38,400 at Sotheby’s “Summer League Selects” auction, surpassing initial estimates of $6,000 to $10,000. This price far exceeded that of No. 1 draft pick Zaccharie Risacher’s jersey, which sold for $3,360, and No. 3 pick Reed Sheppard’s jersey, which went for $15,600.

James’ jersey nearly matched the auction price of a LeBron James jersey worn during a November 15, 2023, game against the Sacramento Kings. LeBron’s jersey, which featured a triple-double performance of 28 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists, sold for $42,000, just $3,600 more than Bronny’s.
In comparison, Victor Wembanyama’s Summer League debut jersey, sold for $62,020 last year, significantly outpaced both James jerseys. Wembanyama’s regular-season debut jersey fetched $762,000.
During his Summer League debut, Bronny James recorded four points, two rebounds, two assists, and one steal in a 104-98 loss against the Kings. Although his statistics were modest, the jersey’s auction success reflects the potential future significance of his NBA career.
